Bruce County Public Library (BCPL) has officially released its newly approved Strategic Plan for 2022 through 2025.

The new strategic plan highlights the library’s missions, values, and strategic priorities.
The Bruce County Public Library Board began the strategic planning process in April of 2021, with consultant Rebecca Jones of Dysart & Jones facilitating the process. The Library Board and staff successfully worked together to envision and develop an engaging plan that will guide the next three years.

Library Director Brooke McLean noted “We prepared our new strategic plan during the deeply challenging pandemic. Library staff and Board members worked diligently to identify the changing needs in our communities and develop a clear vision for the Library over the next few years. We are building on the strong foundation that Bruce County Public Library already has in our communities to realize an innovative and connected future.”

Stakeholder interviews, community focus groups, and surveys helped identify what Bruce County residents desire from their library branches. Three priorities form the focus of the new Strategic Plan: to be a trusted community connector, a digital community facilitator, and a community sharing place. These priorities are responsive and reflective of the needs of our communities.

When asked for his thoughts on the new strategic plan, Board Chair Luke Charbonneau stated “Bruce County Public Library Staff have worked exceedingly hard, throughout the challenges of the pandemic, to maintain the stability and community focus of our libraries. As we come back together in person and embrace connecting virtually, our libraries will continue to support Bruce County communities through the implementation of this new Strategic Plan.”

We want to thank everyone who participated in discussions and provided their feedback.
