scarecrowsMeaford's main street, parks, storefronts, and public buildings will be awash in red and white this year when the 2017 line-up of scarecrows arrives to celebrate great moments in Canadian history during Canada's 150th.
Meaford Scarecrow Invasion and Family Festival volunteers have been planning for the 150th celebrations for months. They are carefully reviewing an endless list of great Canadian personalities and their achievements in the world of science, the arts, humanities, economics, sports, and politics. And they are preparing to make their final selection of great Canadians and their achievements to showcase during this year's invasion of scarecrows.

Let it never be said that scarecrows lack style. With the public's help, they will be looking 'mighty fine' decked out in red and white. Anyone who has red and/or white used clothing to donate to help dress 250 scarecrows, please gather up the clothing now and set it aside. Watch for further notices announcing drop-off locations.

The 2017 scarecrow invasion theme: Scarecrows Proudly Celebrate Canada's 150th. The invasion is scheduled for the first week of September till mid-October and the parade and family festival, on September 29th beginning on Sykes Street at 6 p.m.

The scarecrow building workshops will once again happen at the Rotary Pavilion at the Meaford waterfront in May and June and the dressing workshops, in August.
