Janes-Walkers

Two walks and a film are all part of this year's third annual "Jane's Walks" this Saturday, June 17. Named for the late urban activist Jane Jacobs, the rain-or-shine walks are free to attend and open to all, led by some of your knowledgable neighbours.
The first walk of the day, along the harbour on the east side of the city, will begin at the Public Health building at 9:30 a.m. Led by Scott Taylor, Kelly Henderson, Stephanie Lacey-Avon, the walk will explore some public/private uses and trails which are designed to draw people to the water and beyond. Existing buildings including the Bayshore and the Health Unit will be profiled. Future opportunities for this section of the city, such as the former CP Rail Station and the old court house, are also key to this area. Parks, trails, and access to the water are some of the building blocks to future growth along the east harbour of Owen Sound.
At 12:30, walkers can meet at Grey Roots to explore Inglis Falls with long time resident and passionate volunteer Blaine Courtney. Hear reflections and stories from the area, while admiring the natural beauty of the amazing waterfalls and trails.
The film Citizen Jane: Battle for the City (see trailer here) will be shown at Grey Roots Museum and Archives at 3:00 p.m. The $12 admission includes light refreshments.
