Donors in Owen Sound asked to support the blood supply this holiday season, as 120 donors are needed to ensure patient needs are met. 

Canadian Blood Services encourages new and returning donors make their greatest gift of the holidays by booking and keeping appointments.

Blood donations at this time will be essential to collect platelets, a vital blood component with a short expiry of seven days that many patients living with cancer or a blood disorder may need for treatment.

Local holiday blood donation events will take place as follows:
New Year’s Day - Wednesday, Jan. 1 from 2 to 7 p.m.
Owen Sound Legion – 1450 2nd Av W, Owen Sound, ON

There are over 100 open appointments to fill.

Blood donations are supplied to over 700 hospitals across Canada. Cancer treatment, trauma surgeries, and organ transplants all routinely take place throughout the holiday season. While one person in two can donate blood, only one person out of 60 does. Canadian Blood Services encourages new and returning donors to support this event.
