thrift 1We know many of you are now home a lot more than expected. Field trips, vacations, school, and all the things we thought we were going to do for spring break are now on pause.

Will this spring look different than past years? Yes. But keeping up with routines can help maintain some sense of normalcy. To help out, we put together a quick list of things to help MCC Thrift lovers put their passion for thrift to good use during these challenging times.

1. If you have children at home that you are working to keep entertained, collect random items around your home and put them into an “imagination box” for your kids to get creative with. Maybe they can make a craft out of old toilet paper rolls? Maybe they can build a tower out of old yogurt containers? Get creative while diverting waste from the landfill.thift 2

2. As you’re moving around your home, keep your eye out for items you no longer need and place them into a dedicated “to donate” box. If you haven’t used something in the past year, you probably won’t need it in the upcoming one. MCC Thrift Shops are not currently accepting donations, but we will gratefully accept your donations once we reopen.

3. Music! MCC staff have put together some songs to bring an added element of peace into your home. Check out the MCC Taking Care playlist on Spotify.

We wish we could play a larger role in your thrift-conscious living over the next while. But know that you’ll come up with creative ways to organize, decorate, clean and play even if you’re not picking up new home decor, children’s activities or old records from one of our shops.

We look forward to serving you again as soon as it's safe to do so!
