OS-Police-cuffs-regAt approximately 2:00 am Owen Sound Police were called to the area of 9th Street East and 2nd Avenue East after patrons at a downtown restaurant felt threatened by a man displaying a machete. A 21 year old Hamilton area man was found by police to be in possession of the weapon outside the restaurant. A search upon arrest also located a large hunting knife as well as a small quantity of crystal meth and cannabis. He was subsequently held for bail and must now answer to charges of Weapons Dangerous, Breaching a Justice Undertaking, and two counts of drug possession.

All 11 secondary schools are once again opening their doors to showcase the many programming opportunities available to help put students on the path to success. In addition to providing curriculum and registration information, these evenings will allow those attending to experience firsthand the vibrant, diverse and inclusive sense of community and spirit found in a Bluewater District School Board high school.

The following roads are closed at this time:

- Hwy. 26 from Owen Sound to Meaford
- Hwy. 6 & 10 from Owen Sound to Markdale

ped-alert-featCLEARVIEW TOWSHIP – In relation to a public safety issue, the OPP, in accordance with the Police Services Act, is releasing information regarding a person considered to be at a high-risk to re-offend, residing in the community of Clearview Township, Ontario.

The OPP is advising residents of the Clearview Township area that 28-year-old Brenden Sarginson has taken up residence on Concession 7 Sunnidale. He has previous criminal convictions for theft under $5000, sexual assault andfFail to comply with a probation order.

Sarginson recently completed a custodial sentence in Alberta and has been released on probation; he is currently bound by three probation orders, one of which expires 5 Dec 2015 with the following conditions:

· 24 hour curfew, unless accompanied by a designated adult,

can-money-regOttawa, ON – Recently, the Rt. Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, announced that the Canada Apprentice Loan initiative is now open for business and is accepting applications.
The Canada Apprentice Loan, as introduced in the 2014 Federal Budget, will provide apprentices in Red Seal trades across Canada with access to interest-free loans. These loans will help apprentices address the costs they encounter during technical training, including educational fees, tools and equipment, living expenses and forgone wages. Apprentices will be able to apply for loans of up to $4,000 per period of technical training. These loans will be interest-free until after loan recipients complete or leave their apprenticeship training program for a maximum of 6 years.
