opp-graphic-regularMUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON - On Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at approximately 5:47 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of stolen hunting gear from a vacant rural property on Grey Rd. 40 east of the Euhprasia-Holland Townline in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

Sometime between 10:30 a.m. on December 1st and 4:00 p.m. on December 3rd, two game cameras, "Wildgame" and "Moultree", as well as two ladder-type tree stands were taken from the bush by unknown person(s).

A third camera, which had not been discovered, captured a male walking through the area during the time of the theft. The suspect is described as Caucasian, approximately 35 – 45 years of age, wearing a short camouflage jacket, orange vest and ball cap, black pants, black boots and black gloves with reflective material and is carrying a long gun.

flare-regGEORGIAN BLUFFS – On Thursday, December 4, 2014 at approximately 4:33 p.m., Grey County OPP received a report of a barn fire on Concession 2, east of Clavering, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

The Inter-Township Fire Department, with the assistance of the Chatsworth and Wiarton Fire Departments, extinguished the fire which had completely engulfed the structure, described as an old bank barn.

The owner of the farm was plowing the driveway when he noticed the fire and called 9-1-1. He was taken to hospital by ambulance for smoke inhalation. The 48 year old victim was treated and released.

bruce-food-regTIVERTON, ON – Bruce Power has given a $57,000 boost to food banks and Christmas Hamper gift programs across the region.

The annual holiday donation provides much-needed funding for these integral, non-profit programs during the holiday season, said Duncan Hawthorne, President and CEO.

"The important work these volunteer-driven programs do across Bruce, Grey and Huron counties allows many to give their families a special Christmas, and we're happy we can play a role in that," Hawthorne said. "Every community in the area does a great job filling food bank shelves and buying toys and clothes to go under Christmas trees. Bruce Power and its employees have a long tradition of supporting these community programs."

oppb-graphic-regularSouthgate - On Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at approximately 6:26 a.m., Grey County OPP received a report of a break-in at the landfill site located on Southgate Side Road 41 in the Township of Southgate.

Sometime between 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2nd and 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3rd, unknown persons forcibly entered the site. Various storage units were breached and searched. Approximately 300-400 lbs of scrap copper wire was stolen from the site. This is the second break-in at the site since August 2014.

Police continue to investigate.
