town of south bruce peninsula town hallThe Town of South Bruce Peninsula is pleased to advise that the recently commissioned Market Feasibility Study for a Resort Hotel confirms market support for an upscale, full-service soft branded hotel in Wiarton.

“The Town has taken an unprecedented first step towards the development of a hotel to anchor South Bruce Peninsula as a tourism destination”, says Mayor Jackson.

The study recommends an 80-unit, full service, soft branded hotel affiliated with Tribute by Marriot, that has a combination of standard rooms and suites designed to offer water views of Colpoy’s Bay and the Niagara Escarpment.

The hospitality industry is an important sector that can help drive the local economy. A hotel development provides increased tax revenue, capital investment, tourism related development and promotion, civic leadership and year-round jobs.

The Town retained RevPar International, an independent third-party consultant who specialize in Hospitality Advisory and Asset Management services to conduct the market analysis and prepare the study.

“The final report and pitchbook provides the quantitative data that validates a developers financial performance for hotel development”, says Danielle Edwards, Economic Development Officer.

Recognizing a resort hotel would be a regional asset, funding for this study was paid for in part by a Provincial Tourism Development Fund Grant with contributions from Grey County, Bruce County and the Township of Georgian Bluffs.
