Good GrowthGrowth is on the horizon for Bruce County. The region's population is expected to reach 86,200 by 2046, increasing by approximately 17,400 from 2016; the employment base is expected to increase by 10,700 jobs by 2046; and permanent housing is expecting to increase by 8,600 households by 2046.

As a community, we need to plan now for sustainable and manageable growth in the next 25 years.

Plan the Bruce is a land use project to inform the new Official Plan — the roadmap for growth and development for the next 25 years. Meaningful public engagement is an important part of the journey.

The goal of the Plan the Bruce: Good Growth project is to inform policy in the Bruce County Official Plan to accommodate growth population and employment forecasts. Wise growth management practices and policy in Bruce County’s new Official Plan will assist municipalities to balance growth in a sustainable and coordinated manner.

“Community input will help Bruce County plan to support the right kind of growth, and development, in the right places, while sustaining our quality of life in the long term,” says Mark Paoli, Bruce County’s director of planning and development.
