boatingOn May 27, 2017, members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) marine unit were patrolling the waters of Lake Huron off the shore of Kincardine when they stopped to inspect a 16' StarCraft. The vessel was found to be lacking safety equipment and the operator, a 23-year-old Wellington North Township man, was charged under the Canada Shipping Act - Small Vessel Regulations.

The South Bruce OPP marine unit is urging all vessel operators to ensure they have the required safety equipment on board before you leave the dock. Should you require safety equipment out on the water, that's the wrong time to discover that it's not on board.

The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
