opp-assault-fullA male has been arrested after an elderly female was assaulted.

On August 17, 2017 at approximately 12:52 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police attended a residence in the Municipality of Grey Highlands and arrested a 47-year old male after he had committed an assault on an elderly female the night before.

Investigation revealed that on the night of August 16, 2017 the victim, a 92 year old female, was watching television in her bedroom when her grandson, who resides with victim, entered the room and struck her on the back of the head with his hand. The assault was unprovoked. She was not injured. The following morning the victim contacted police to report the incident.

The male, who was charged with assault, was held for a bail hearing scheduled on August 18, 2017. His next court appearance is on September 14, 2017.
