On October 5th, 2017 at 12:45 a.m. a uniformed patrol officer observed 2 youths operating an E-bike in downtown Owen Sound without helmets. The boys were arrested and returned to Owen Sound Police Service. A cursory search revealed that one of the 14 year olds was in possession of 7 pairs of high-end sunglasses which were believed to be stolen.

Investigation later revealed that the sunglasses had been stolen from a city optometrist's store during a break-in.

One youth is charged with failure to comply with probation, and is detained at a youth facility; while the other youth is charged with break, enter & theft, possession of property obtained by crime, and 3 counts of failure to comply with probation. He is held in police custody to await a bail hearing later this morning.
