OS-Policesept-fullImpaired driver hits east harbour wall.

At about 8:00am members of the Owen Sound Police Service were dispatched to 17th Street East at 1st Avenue East with respect to a vehicle which had struck the harbour wall. Police located a 2012 Dodge Journey with extensive front end and passenger side damage as well as the deployment of the front and side airbags. The owner was located asleep inside the vehicle and as a result of the investigation was taken into custody. The 27year old man faces charges of Operating While Impaired, Breath Sample: Not Provided Upon Demand as well as 5 offences under the Provincial Offences Act in relation to this incident.

Further investigation revealed that the Owen Sound resident had been released by police at an earlier date with respect to a criminal offence and as a result was to abide by certain conditions. The male was found not to be abiding one of the conditions and as a result was charged with Failing to Comply with Condition of OIC Undertaking.

Jason Malcolm has been held in custody and is to appear by way of audio before a bail court held in London, Ontario on October 29, 2017.

The male was taken to hospital where he was treated and released with very minor injuries.

With citizens still fishing along the harbour wall, it was very fortunate that nobody was present this morning at the time of the collision.
