Grey County signGrey County is taking proactive steps to keep residents, stakeholders and staff safe during the COVID-19 outbreak and ensure essential services continue.

Beginning March 17, Grey Roots Museum and Archives, Ontario Works satellite offices, the EarlyON Child and Family Centre and the Ontario Works Van services will be closed until further notice. The Grey County Administration Building will be open during regular business hours to assist those in a crisis, but limited staff will be available on site.

Many program applications and services can be accessed online or over the phone. Residents in need of services are encouraged to visit www.Grey.ca. For housing assistance call 519‑376‑5744. For Ontario Works social assistance, call 519-376-7112. For all other needs, residents can call 2-1-1.

All Grey County long-term care homes (Rockwood Terrace, Lee Manor and Grey Gables) remain closed to the public with exceptions for essential visitors.

Grey County will continue to provide essential services while Grey County facilities are closed. Many administrative functions will continue as staff work remotely from home offices. Some employees may also be redeployed to support essential services if needed.

“We ask for the publics patience and understanding as we take necessary actions to prevent community transmissions of COVID-19 during the outbreak,” said Grey County Warden Paul McQueen. “Through history, the people of Grey County have proven to be caring, compassionate, and resilient. As we face this current challenge, I’m confident our residents will make smart decisions and consider the well-being of our most vulnerable citizens. We are all in this together even as we are apart.”

Grey County will continue to communicate updates to the public as decisions are made and new information becomes available. For more details about measures Grey County is taking to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community, visit www.Grey.ca.
