Grey County Warden Selwyn ‘Buck' Hicks will be taking a leave of absence from County Council as he runs as the Liberal candidate for MPP of Grey-Bruce-Owen Sound in the upcoming provincial election. Grey County’s Deputy Warden, Paul McQueen will serve as acting warden during the leave.

“I am taking a temporary leave knowing I cannot perform my role as Warden to the best of my ability while also directing my energy to an election campaign,” stated Hicks.

“I want to thank Deputy Warden McQueen for stepping into the Warden’s office while I am away. I also appreciate Councillor Harold Fleet attending County Council meetings as a voice from Hanover in my absence.”

The leave is temporary pending the results of the Provincial Election on June 2. Selwyn Hicks was acclaimed by the Liberal riding association.

Selwyn Hicks is in his third term on County Council and third year as Warden.
