opp-crimescene-fullOn March 17, 2018, members of the West Region Ontario Provincial Police Canine Unit, West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP Unmanned Aerial Surveillance (UAS) Unit were continuing a missing person investigation by searching a property near the village of Dornoch.

Members of the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) were conducting a search in Bell's Lake, Municipality of West Grey, also assisting with this investigation.

During the search of the property, officers located a dead body. The identity of the deceased is not known at this time and a post mortem examination is expected to take place in the coming days.

As a result of the police investigation, the Saugeen Shores Police Service and the (OPP) West Region Crime Unit, under the direction of Acting Detective Inspector Paula Milne of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), have arrested two men.

A 46-year old Holland Township man has been charged with:

- Second degree murder, contrary to section 229 of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Indignity to a dead body, contrary to section 182(2) of the CC
- Possession of a weapon while prohibited, contrary to section 117.01(1) CC

A 22-year-old Holland Township man has been charged with:

- Indignity to a dead body, contrary to section 182(2) of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Fail to comply with probation, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC

Both accused persons were held in custody pending the result of a bail hearing. This case is subject to a court ordered publication ban.
