policecarExcessive speed drew the attention of police resulting in an impaired driving charge.

An Owen Sound Police Service Officer was observing the bar crowd on 8th Street East when his attention was drawn to a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed. The officer investigated the driver of the motor vehicle and found that he had been drinking.

Breath tests were conducted which revealed the driver to have 2.5 times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood. The 22-year-old was charged with impaired driving and over 80. His driver’s license was automatically suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for a period of 7 days. The driver will appear in court on February 20, 2020 to answer to the charges.
