policecarOn Tuesday May 5th, 2020, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Owen Sound Police responded to a complaint of a driver who possibly had an open container of alcohol inside their vehicle. The driver was observed by an employee at an east side fast food restaurant when the driver pulled through for his order. Officers arrived to investigate and found the vehicle in the restaurant parking lot.

After speaking to the driver it was noted that he was showing signs of impairment. A road side screening device was used which the male registered a ‘fail’. The driver was arrested and brought to the Owen Sound Police Service where he provided two samples of his breath. Both samples provided measured almost two times the legal limit of alcohol in his body.

The 24 year old male from Owen Sound was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle relating to the incident. The vehicle involved has been impounded for 7 days and the driver had his licence suspended for 90 days. The male is to appear in court on July 9th, 2020, in Owen Sound.
