  • It was a hot one as The Owen Sound MACKINNON PLUMBING HEATING U11A girls’ team travelled to Halton Hills for their games this weekend. Both games proved very intense as the team ended each game in a tie. The first game saw the girls playing Oshawa, ending in a 5-5 tie. Goals scored by Briar McCoubrey (2), Olyvia Wagner (2) and a single by Reese Harvey. Picking up a couple of assists was Keeva Fox. The second game was a 4-4 tie against KW with goals for Owen Sound by Quinn Norton (2), Lyla Doyle and Briar McCoubrey. Each game saw stellar goal tending by Harper Lines. Great job girls! The team is next in action July 10th in Kawartha.

  • U11b 29thThe Owen Sound Sunbelt Rentals U11B came out strong with a 4-4 tie against Beaches. 2 goals netted by Adele Ferguson, along with singles from Avery Brooks and Sophie Burnett-Scott. As the sun heated up so did the girls action! Coming off a big 7-4 win against Burlington(2). A pair of goals from Hana Carr & Adele Ferguson, singles from Molly Richardson, Avery Brooks and Isla McGregor. Kyla Johnson was amazing in net both games! The girls will enjoy Canada Day weekend off and will return to action in Kawartha on July 10th.

  • U13b 29thAfter a break last weekend, the Owen Sound Berner Contracting U13B girls field lacrosse team, were back at it in Halton Hills on Sunday. In the blazing heat, they met the Beaches 2 team first, with the team winning 6-0, a shut out for goalie Hailey Frede. Goals scored: Jenna Cranny, Addison McCoubrey (3), Molly Klunder and Camryn Laycock. They met the hometown Halton Hills Bulldogs for their 2nd game. They battled hard, but fell 9-2. Goals scored: Addison McCoubrey and Jenna Cranny. Well done girls!! They are back in action in two weeks in Kawarthas.
  • U15 29thThe Owen Sound 1 Krueger Custom Steel U15 girls were back in action this Saturday at Halton Hills. Game one found the Northstars up against Beaches 1. The squad battled the heat but came up short with a 9-7 loss. Goals by Camryn Staffer (1), Hannah Davies (1), Taryn Weppler(1), Bree Wilkins(2), Ryann Seaman(2). Their 2nd match up, Owen Sound won against Six Nations 14-3. The girls celebrated first goals this season from Ella Todd, Willow Smith Spinney and Charlotte Fox. Mykah Harris played two solid games in net for Owen Sound. The team is next in action on July 9th in Kawartha.

  • BreeWilkinsTarynWepplerOwen Sound North Stars U15 field lacrosse player Bree Wilkins has been selected to participate in the Opening Ceremonies of the 2022 World Lacrosse Women’s World Championships in Towson, Maryland. Wilkins, who plays on the Silver Maple Club team from Halton Hills with Owen Sound teammate Taryn Weppler, was selected to represent her team in the opening ceremonies. In the ceremony, Wilkins will be carrying the country sign for one of the participating teams in the World Championships. The World Lacrosse Women’s World Championships run from June 29th– July 9 in Towson. The 30-team tournament kicks off with a game between Canada and the United States on June 29th. The Silver Maple team is participating in the 14U division of the Lacrosse Festival running in tandem with the senior World Championship. The team will be competing from June 30 – July 2 and is in a pool with CLC 2027 Blue, Coppermine Ruby, and the Texas Nationals.

  • U19 29thThe Owen Sound U19 Creative Playgrounds Women’s Field Lacrosse team played back to back games on Friday night in JEWL league play. The U-19’s fell short in their first contest against the current first place Oshawa Lady Blue Knights by a score of 17-13. The team generated solid offense with 8 different players scoring. Top scorer was attacker Kennedy Stauffer with 5 goals, followed by Karly Low, Jillian Goldie, Kennedy Coghlin, and Tara Meikle each with 2 and singles from Dani Strong, Taylor Cheghano and Courtney Scott. Owen Sound won their second game versus Kitchener Waterloo by a score of 16-13. Goal scorers were Tara Meikle (3), Kennedy Stauffer (3), Taylor Cheghano (2), Jillian Goldie (2), and singles from Cassidy Low, Emma Bryan and Kennedy Coghlin. The Owen Sound U-19 Creative Playgrounds team will enjoy a well deserved break before taking the field again for their final regular season game on Friday July 8th in Acton against Orangeville at 6:30 pm.

  • The Owen Sound European Bakery U19 2 girls lost their games on Saturday playing in the sweltering heat of Halton Hills. The girls faced Hamilton in their first match and fell 9-3. Scorers were Leisl Stata, and Maddie Linklater with singles, and Edyn Beyer with a goal and an assist. The team then faced St Catharines in their second game falling 12 - 5. Owen Sound scorers were Edyn Beyer with 3 goals, Maddy Playter with a pair, and Leisl Stata with an assist. The team finishes their season at the OWFL Provincials located in Oshawa on July 15-17.
