U13 24Jul23

The Owen Sound U13 Legacy Ridge Golf Club travelled to Brampton for their Provincials over the weekend.

We had ended the regular season second in the B division. We had multiple girls fill in and play different positions this weekend. It really helped to keep girls fresh as the heat played a big factor.

Our first matchup against Newmarket ended in a tie as they scored with one second left to make it 8-8.

Goals by Avery Thompson (4), Scarlett Stevenson (3) and a single by Ella Todd

We met Orangeville in the second match. The girls battled hard but fell short in a 4-2 loss. Goals scored Avery Thompson and Scarlett Stevenson

The quarter final game against Kawartha was the best team game we played all year.

The game winner from Mckenna Ward on a great pass from Reese Holman “Fred” was awesome!!

There were 50 seconds left in the game. The bench and all the coaches went nuts!

It gave us a chance to play for a medal on Sunday. Final score was 5-4. Goals scored by Avery Thompson (3), Scarlett Stevenson and McKenna Ward.

In the semi-finals against Orangeville, we out-shot and out-chanced them, however fell short to another 4-2 loss. Both goals from Avery Thompson.

Heading into the bronze game, our defence held strong against Orillia, not allowing many goals in.

A big shout out to Vanessa Patterson, Callie Sarvis and McKenna Ward. The girls battled hard along with the heat but fell short to a 4-2 loss. Goals from Hailey Frede and Avery Thompson.

A big congratulations to both Kyla Johnson and Harper Lines for playing great in net, we only allowed four goals in three of our games, that is very impressive in field lacrosse, and it gave us a chance in all of those games.

Coach Mike and Jordan are very proud of all the girls, we had some leaders that had to play a lot of minutes and were very impressive all season long but especially this weekend.

A big thanks to our trainer Heather Harvey and manager Tasha Thompson for all the help, knowledge and support, the girls really appreciate it.

We are so lucky to have Jordan Kosempel and Maddy Playter, the girls look up to them so much and you can see how when they give advice or challenge the girls which made them they step up.

It shows how having someone they can relate to really helps.

We want to thank our Sponsor Legacy Ridge!

We also want to say a big thank you to our parents. The commitment to practice, driving to six away weekends and being the players' biggest supporters and cheerleaders.

Finally, a big congratulations to our U13 Legacy Ridge Golf Club team this season who are the following:
