attackblack-fullThe Owen Sound Attack enter the final weekend of the regular season with a chance to clinch home ice for the first round of the playoffs. With games against the Guelph Storm on Friday and then against the Sarnia Sting on Saturday, a pair of wins could mean the Attack will be at home for games one and two of the playoffs.

Owen Sound enters the weekend in 4th place, just three points back of Guelph, who they take on at 7:30 pm at the Sleeman Centre on Friday. A weekend sweep for the Attack, and a Storm loss on Sunday would mean the Attack clinch 4th place in the conference. But first they have to get through Guelph, who only needs one point to secure home ice.

Friday night's meeting is the 8th of the year between the teams, and the Attack have a 2-3-0-2 record against Guelph in the previous seven meetings.

The two squads last saw each other on Friday, Mar. 6; a game that the Storm won by a score of 3-1. While the Attack enter Friday's game fresh off of a big 7-3 win over Plymouth on Wednesday, Mar. 18, the Storm are also riding high thanks to a win of their own, a 3-2 decision over Kitchener on Tuesday night.

The Attack will likely be without the services of defenceman Chris Bigras once again, as he still recovers from an injury suffered against the London Knights on Friday, Mar. 13. Despite Bigras' absence for Owen Sound's last two contests, the Attack have been able to generate offence from all parts of their lineup.

Kyle Platzer and Zach Nastasiuk continue to pace the squad, each having notched three points against the Whalers on Wednesday. While they have 78 and 77 points on the year, respectively, draft eligible defenceman Thomas Schemitsch is also stepping up. A four point game against Plymouth brought him to 47 points on the season.

The Attack will also be welcoming forward Justin Brack back into the lineup for the 1st time in ten games. The Orangeville native will slot back into the lineup after he was suspended for a check to the head that occurred in a 3-0 win over Barrie on Feb. 25.

Guelph's Tyler Bertuzzi leads the Storm in point production, having scored 43 times while adding 51 assists on the year. Robby Fabbri is also amongst the Storm leaders with 47 points despite missing almost half the year with an injury.

Attack fans can watch Friday's game live on Rogers Local 53 beginning at 7:30 pm, or tune in to Kia Of Owen Sound Bear Radio at 7:15 pm.

Owen Sound will then return home to close out the regular season on Saturday with a 7:30 pm puck drop against the Sarnia Sting.

Tickets for that game are down to standing room only and can be purchased at the DJ's Furniture Attack Box Office.
