Local Conservative MPP Bill Walker blasted the Wynne government's Throne Speech Thursday, saying it indicates the coming budget will be "all mirage and no restraint."

In a news release, Walker said the Liberal government's spending plans will put front-line services in jeopardy.

"Today Premier Kathleen Wynne set Ontario out on a path of higher taxes on working people and no plan for making Government live within its means," Walker said in the release.

opp-crimescene-regularMARKDALE - Grey County Ontario Provincial Police and the I.D.A. Pharmacy in Markdale are working together to locate a quantity of methadone that has been reported as unaccounted for from the pharmacy.

Methadone is a synthetic, addictive narcotic drug used for the relief of pain and as a substitute narcotic in the treatment of heroin addiction. If used improperly, ingesting a small quantity of methadone may be fatal.

On Thursday, July 3, 2014 at approximately 8:00 p.m., the owner of the I.D.A. Pharmacy located at 2 Toronto St., N., Markdale, in the municipality of Grey Highlands, contacted police alerting them to the missing methadone, which was last dispensed on Wednesday, July 2nd, in the late afternoon.

wine-regularCOLLINGWOOD - Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are asking for the public's help in solving a theft in Collingwood in late June.

On the 22nd of June 2014 at approximately 4:00 am an unknown suspect entered the premises and forcibly gained access to a storage locker at a licensed establishment located in downtown Collingwood. The suspect then made off with some glassware and several bottles of wine.

oppb-graphic-regularORILLIA – The Ontario Provincial Police wrapped up its four-day Canada Day weekend traffic safety campaign on July 2, 2014 with two reported deaths on OPP-patrolled roads.

As part of their traffic safety campaign, the OPP raised awareness about speeding and other forms of aggressive driving, calling on motorists and passengers to do their part to help keep the number of speed-related deaths from rising. Speed is currently the leading contributing factor in road deaths investigated by the OPP so far this year (2014) when compared to distracted and impaired driving.

A 23-year-old Owen Sound man turned himself into police Wednesday morning following a collision between a speeding pickup truck and a house Tuesday night, following the Canada Day festivities at Kelso Park.
