I busted my back. I broke my truck. I wore out a good pair of gloves, busted a couple of screw gun bits and tore my jeans.

I got up at 3:45AM on Saturday August 15th to start moving stage trailers from storage to the park so that we wouldn't bother anyone, wouldn't inconvenience the commuters on our already construction congested streets this year.

I worked eight and ten hour days to bring things safely across town and then assemble them. I watched as dozens more volunteers did the same things I did, worked the same odd hours I worked, made fast the things that were loose, made do with the things that could have been better, and made right the things that needed repair.

And as things came together and as things got done and as the time grew closer, little by little, the glibly painted timber frames and plywood floors took on the aura of completeness and even the appearance of strength and the look of festival.

circle dance amphitheatre 175The Georgian Bay Folk Society (GBFS) is officially declaring the 40th anniversary Summerfolk Music and Crafts Festival a success. The festival enjoys a glowing reputation among fans and performers for the beauty of its venue, quality of music, and laid-back friendly atmosphere. Summerfolk40 lived up to the reputation with sunny weather, a breathtaking line up, eye catching artisans, and fabulous food creating the positive vibe. This year, the festival welcomed 15,000 visitors on to the Kelso Beach site over the four day event. "We wanted the 40th anniversary to be special," said GBFS president Phil Bye, "and I think we succeeded; I heard positive comments from performers, vendors, and patrons all weekend".

Meaford-Hall-featMeaford Hall Arts & Cultural Centre presents over 20 live shows, two film series plus new gallery exhibits, speaker series and more for fall/early winter 2015. With so many events right here in Meaford arts patrons don't have to drive far to expand their cultural palette and find quality entertainment.

The season kicks off in September with something for the younger generation: Tyler Shaw plays Meaford, bringing his signature brand of rock-tinged pop.
