There's a new daytime choir starting in Owen Sound on April 18th.
Appropriately called The Daylight Choir, it will meet on Tuesday mornings from 10:30 till noon in St. Andrew's downstairs room on First Avenue West in Owen Sound.
This 'a cappella' choir will be non-performing and mostly paperless, and like its parent, Oh Sing! will sing songs from many different Daylight choir 2017languages and traditions, as well as English. Songs will be taught aurally, using the call-and-response method.
Although not religious, there is a spiritual element to many of the songs, most of which are heartfelt and give voice to the longing we all feel for understanding and community.
The cost is $80 for 10 practices, but late starters will be pro-rated for a short time until the choir is established. So if you have to miss the first few practices, you won't pay for them.

Director Louise Jarvis took courses in conducting and community choir leadership at Capilano University in North Vancouver, and with the Gettin' Higher Choir in Victoria, BC.
Both Oh Sing! and The Daylight Choir belong to the Ubuntu Choirs Network which believes that the joy of singing is a universal birthright, and that together, regardless of musical background, we can help improve the world by joining voices in song.
