Bruce County Public Library is piloting a free Borrow by Mail service to community members who cannot visit a library branch for reasons relating to limited mobility or health concerns. Use of this new service may be time-limited or ongoing, dependent on the specific needs of the borrower.

The Bruce County Public Library has added an online form to its website, library.brucecounty.on.ca/books-by-mail, for patrons to fill out to request the service. Once a patron's request is submitted, a Bruce County Public Library staff member will follow up to ensure the program's parameters are met and will even help patrons make selections.

The Borrow by Mail service is only available to Bruce County Residents. There is a 5-item check out limit, and a maximum of two parcels a month will be sent.

"Bruce County Public Library is always looking for innovative ways to serve our communities. This pilot project will help us get information and entertainment resources to residents who find it difficult to leave their home" noted Brooke Mclean, Director for the Bruce County Public Library.

Library materials that are available to borrow include books, large print books, audiobooks and the new Playaways.

Participants will receive everything needed to return items by mail in their Library parcel, including a postage-paid return label. When finished with the materials, simply put them back in the envelope, add the return label and send them through postal mail. It's that easy!
