Grey Bruce families are set to take part in Canadian Mental Health’s 6th Annual Teddy Bear picnic for Youth mental health awareness on Friday, September 2nd 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Harrison Park in Owen Sound. The Canadian Mental Health Association has partnered up with local businesses and organizations to provide storytelling, sing-alongs, workshops and puppet shows while raising awareness about mental health resources available to children, youth and families.

Going back to school can be a very anxious time for kids and parents for many reasons, let alone during pandemic times. CMHA Grey Bruce wants to provide a fun, interactive and informative day for families before school begins as a way to help ease the stress and anxiety. This is a FREE event for all to attend. Families are asked to bring their own teddy bears, picnic lunch, picnic blanket and be ready to have lots of fun at the park.

The list of activities includes games provided by Georgian Bay Woodworking, St. John Ambulance Therapy Dogs, the Home Depot workshop, the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library Story Tent, Keystone Child, Youth and Family Services, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Lauren's Best Practice Arts music workshop and Chalk the Walk with Community Living Owen Sound & District. Public Health Grey Bruce will be on site with a pop-up Vaccine Clinic and Healthy Smiles kits. Buster from Owen Sound Police Services will be on hand to insure every child has a Teddy Bear for the picnic and Boston Pizza’s Lionel will be helping.
