Best was inspired by over a decade of experience teaching music lessons and facilitating creative workshops for people of all ages. Her goal in creating this programming is to not only create future musicians with hands-on skills, but to also nurture caring citizens. She has brought the benefits of music and creativity to thousands of people as a performer and facilitator.

These innovative programs were designed to amplify the benefits of making music collaboratively by using a creative approach with a solid grounding in research-backed methods for musical skill acquisition.

“People gain so many transferable skills through learning how to make music,” says Best. “When we combine music with supportive creative relationships, it creates a Lauren Headshotpotent and nourishing way to help communities learn, grow and thrive.”

Lauren Best was Owen Sound’s Poet Laureate 2017-2019, with a tenure focused on children. She founded Best Practice Arts in 2017 to help people use creativity and music more effectively and intuitively through music lessons, improv classes, and community partnerships. She created the Infinite Improvisation Podcast with Seattle-based saxophonist and author Steve Treseler, which has reached listeners around the world since launching on World Creativity and Innovation Day 2022.
