LakeHuronChessClubThe Lake Huron Chess Club is hosting its second annual rated chess tournament for all ages following the success of the 2019 ProAm event.

The event will take place this weekend at Port Elgin – Saugeen Central School, 504 Catherine St., in Port Elgin.

The tournament is five rounds and will feature three sections: Pro (1800+), Under-1800, and Under-1400. The Under-1400 group includes many local players of all ages taking part in their first-ever tournament and is just the place for new players looking to get started.

All equipment is provided, along with drinks and snacks throughout the weekend. The Pro section will feature prize money for top finishers; winners in other sections will receive trophies.

“The Pro-Am format is fun for chess veterans and beginners alike – and we are grateful to our generous sponsors for helping us bring this to our community,” said Jeremy Clark, founder of the Lake Huron Chess Club. “Newcomers are always welcome at tournaments and can come out to our weekly club for lessons.”
