The Bluewater Education Foundation and Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation have teamed up in offering an evening of great food prepared by chef Rob Klunder and entertaining lessons and stories of wilderness survival shared by guest speaker Dr. Teimojin Tan.

Dr. Tan works as a general practitioner with Grey Bruce Health Services and in the emergency rooms at hospitals in Wiarton, Lion’s Head and Southampton. He is also a veteran, survivalist, and the founder of Survival Doctors.

You may also recognize him from Season 9 of History Channel's hit survival series Alone where he  spent several weeks in the Canadian wilderness with just 10 basic items.

As a speaker he draws a unique perspective from his time in the Canadian army specializing in cold weather warfare, his medical training in acute care and wilderness medicine, and his personal survival experiences, including being homeless.

Chef Rob has grown from roots in farm-to-table cooking to travelling the world and cooking in some of its finest restaurants.

From an apprenticeship at Chateau Lake Louise, to Melbourne and Sydney, Australia, to 10 years at some of Toronto’s finest including The Spoke Club and The Four Seasons Hotel, and then back to B.C. and Alberta, Chef Rob has returned to the best place out of all of these to share his talents with us here on the Bruce Peninsula.

The dinner will be taking place at the Bluewater Outdoor Education Centre on Saturday, Feb. 4, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Tickets are $100 per person with proceeds supporting Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation and the Bluewater Education Foundation and can be purchased online by visiting bphfoundation.com or calling 519.534.5856.

Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation supports the capital priority needs of Grey Bruce Health Services  for GBHS-Lion’s Head and GBHS-Wiarton Hospitals and regional needs of Grey Bruce Health Services.  For more information visit www.bphfoundation.com.
