angel treeThe Owen Sound Regional Hospital Foundation's Christmas Angel Campaign is underway. This year, it aims to help patients at the Hospital by bringing seven automated medication cabinets to nursing units across the hospital. This equipment helps to ensure the highest possible standard of patient safety and care.

"Patient safety is critical to all of us working at the Hospital," said Brendan Mulroy, GBHS Chief of the Medical Staff. "The new medication dispensing units ensure patients get the right medication in the right dose, at the right time."

These cabinets help busy nursing staff keep track of up to 300 different medications. The equipment will also alert nurses to patient medication allergies and conflicts. State of the art thumbprint locks give nurses fast, secure access.

Through the Christmas Angel Campaign, the Foundation is hoping to raise $300,000.

"Many people don't realize that while the government funds the operation of hospitals, little funding is provided for medical equipment," said Foundation Chairman, Torben Hawksbridge. "It's only through the generous support of donors that we have a well-equipped hospital."

To make a donation, watch for the Foundation's letter in your mail or call and donate using your credit card. Call 519-372-3925 weekdays between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. Donations can also be made securely through oshfoundation.ca.

Donations to the Campaign are recognized on the Foundation's Angel Trees and Honour Rolls located at Heritage Place Shopping Centre and in the lobby of the Hospital.
