On September 1, 2018, Robert and Terri Hope celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The journey toward this milestone began in the mid-1960's. Born in Buffalo (Bob) and Brooklyn New York (Terri), Bob and Terri met in Buffalo as (very!) young university students. After a few years, they married in 1968. Not long after, Bob was drafted for the Vietnam War. Both passionate advocates for peace and justice, this was not an option; so 1969, they made the decision to move to Canada.hopefamily

For the next 35 years, Bob and Terri built their careers and raised their children, Melanie and Richard, in Toronto. Bob spent his career in mechanical design engineering, including years as the president of Schlegel Canada. Having earned a Masters degree in social work, Terri worked in managing community services, including as Executive Director of the Scadding Court Community Centre. In 2004, Bob and Terri settled in beautiful Owen Sound.

But their paid employment only tells a fraction of the story. If you know Terri and Bob, you also know they are engaged and passionate about community, art, music, food, ideas, books, humanism, Indigenous reconciliation, peace and justice and advocating for important local issues. These passions and values enrich the lives of their children, grandchildren (Hope, Norah and Harvey), friendships and community.

Please join me in congratulating Bob and Terri on this significant anniversary milestone!
