A Microboard™ is a small (micro) group of committed family and friends (a minimum of 5 people) who join together with the individual to create a non-profit society (board). Together, you help the individual:

· plan his/her life;
· brainstorm ideas;
· advocate for what they need;
· monitor services and ensure they are safe;
· connect to his/her wider community; and
· do fun things together.

Kathleen Gifford comes with a wealth of knowledge and lived experience from once working for a Microboard in British Columbia to creating a Microboard for her son David. Come and hear Kathleen’s inspirational story and learn about the ‘how-to’s of one family’s journey. Kathleen is also on the Board of Directors for the newly formed Microboards Ontario.

Diane Peacock is an independent facilitator, and executive director for Facile; Independent Facilitation and Planning. Diane travelled to B.C. to be trained with Vela, the organization that has helped birth 1,000’s of Microboard across British Columbia.

Please email [email protected] or call or text 519-385-1246 to reserve your spot by Monday, April 15th.

This Networking/workshop opportunity is for people with developmental disabilities, their family members, friends and supporters.
