roadBruce County Transportation and Environmental Services will be temporarily removing traffic calming centreline markers for the winter season at the following locations.

Bruce Road 22 between Marl Lakes Road and Grey Road 10
Bruce Road 17 near the west end of Invermay
Bruce Road 9 in Colpoy’s Bay

These centreline markers will be removed on Monday, November 2, 2020, to allow for efficient winter maintenance operations. The centreline markers will be reinstalled in the Spring, on approximately May 1, 2021.

Motorists are asked to continue to obey the posted speed limits on all County roads, and drive with caution during the winter season.

Bruce County Council approved the Traffic Calming Centreline Marker Pilot Project in the Spring of 2020 as an additional, and relatively inexpensive, tool to help calm traffic at identified locations where speeding was found to be an issue.

Over the course of the pilot, staff continue to collect data to compare traffic speeds before and after the marker installations in order to determine traffic calming effectiveness. Staff are also assessing costs associated with implementation and maintenance over the course of the pilot.
