salvation army food packsOn December 23, Grey County Paramedics assisted GlobalMedic in delivering 10,000lbs of food to the Owen Sound Salvation Army.

GlobalMedic is a Canadian charity with the mandate to save lives by proving short-term, rapid response to disasters in Canada and abroad. This year they began McAntony’s Menu, a program that involves producing and packing nutritious dried pantry goods to support food banks and food assistance programs. The 500g packages include rice, barley, green peas, green lentils, rend lentils, chickpeas and kidney beans.

Grey County paramedics travelled directly to GlobalMedic’s headquarters on to collect the donation on Wednesday. It was delivered to the foodbank later in the day. So far GlobalMedic has distributed more than a million pounds of food through the GTA with the help of emergency services.

The David McAntony Gibson Foundation, which operates as GlobalMedic, is a registered Canadian charity. Toronto Paramedic Rahul Singh founded the David McAntony Gibson Foundation (DMGF) in the spring of 1998 in honour of his best friend, who tragically lost his life on February 7, 1998. GlobalMedic was founded on Emergency Response. While we have run many non-emergency and capacity building programs, the majority of our work continues to be critical intervention in the wake of disaster and crisis. We operate 6 primary Emergency Programs: Water, Food, RescUAV, Flood, Medical and Shelter.
