Community Foundation LogoCommunity Foundation Grey Bruce is pleased to announce that a total of $159,315 in grants has been distributed to fifty-two local charities and non-profits to support projects that address community wellbeing across the Grey Bruce region.

A diversity of meaningful community projects is receiving support because of the recent call for applications. This spring, many of the grants support pivots toward online projects as community groups adapt and continue offering valuable programing throughout the pandemic. Many applications address community health and wellbeing, including successful projects from the Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce and Keystone Child, Youth and Family Services. Many applications received focused on the preservation of the natural environment in Grey Bruce, including an innovative project from the Oliphant Fishing Islands Phragmites Community Group that works to restore the wetlands in the area, and an initiative by the Bruce Peninsula Biosphere Association that inspires and equips people in our area with a deeper ecological knowledge about the Bruce Peninsula. The broad cross-section of applications received by the Foundation reflects the breadth of community activities in arts, culture, sports, education, environment, and wellness that make Grey Bruce a vibrant place to live.

Stuart Reid, Executive Director of the Foundation says: “During these difficult times, it is reassuring to see the creativity and resilience in grant applications from local charities and non-profits that directly address community wellbeing and support for vulnerable populations during the pandemic.”

Community Foundation Grey Bruce manages more that 165 endowed funds, comprising over $18 million dollars in community assets, that generate income that is disbursed as grants to charities and non-profits addressing quality of life in Grey and Bruce Counties.
