Bruce County, Ontario: Please take notice that the Bruce County Brant Tract, located northwest of Walkerton, and southeast of Paisley, will be closing for approximately six weeks for forest harvesting operations, beginning on Monday, February 7.

Bruce County, with contractor Moggie Valley, will be harvesting timber in this area to improve forest health as part of the County’s Forest Management Plan. To ensure that everyone will be safe and out of harm’s way, the entire property, inclusive of the parking lot, East and West Forest Access Roads, and the trail network, will be closed to the public until further notice. Operations are anticipated to last for several weeks, and the property is expected to re-open in the spring, after all merchantable material has been removed and any necessary infrastructure repairs have taken place.

The Brant Tract property is located between Concession 12 and the Brant-Elderslie Townline, east of Bruce Road 3, within the Municipality of Brockton. The only motorized vehicle traffic permitted on this property are snowmobiles. The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) has been notified, and a detour has been created, so this closure will not be a disruption to the members of the Saugeen Snowmobile Club, the Chesley & District Easy Riders, or any other OFSC members using the trails in this portion of District 9.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Bruce County apologizes for any inconveniences that this closure causes. This harvesting work will benefit our forest’s health in the long term.

Questions, concerns, or comments about these operations can be directed to Kevin Predon, Bruce County’s Forestry Technician, at 226-909-2840 or [email protected]
