During the ceremony, the new members of Council declared their oath of office and officially started their term. Four members of the previous term have been re-elected including Mayor Paul McQueen, Deputy Mayor Dane Nielsen (previous Councillor), Councillor Paul Allen, and Councillor Tom Allwood. Newly elected members include Councillor Nadia Dubyk, Councillor Joel Loughead, and Councillor Dan Wickens.

Mayor McQueen delivered his inaugural address which included some of the tasks the new Council will face during the next four years. Building a safe, affordable, and inclusive municipality was among these.

"The challenges of the next four years will require teamwork, leadership, and a commitment to engage with our communities. We need to build upon our past successes and bring new ideas and perspectives into council chambers. I look forward to working with my colleagues to tackle these challenges and embrace the opportunities that arise to keep Grey Highlands a thriving community for generations to come,” said Mayor McQueen.

The new Council members were welcomed by CAO Karen Govan. She expressed her enthusiasm for the passion and commitment of the newly elected Council and that staff are eager to start working together for the people of Grey Highlands.

The ceremony was followed by a reception as well as photo opportunities for the new Council.
