police-os-fullOn August 26, 2014 at 5:00 pm, the Owen Sound Police Service, Fire Services and EMS attended a west side residence in regard to a non responsive male at a backyard pool. Other persons at the residence had pulled the man from the pool in an effort to save him. Life saving efforts were continued by EMS and the man was transported to the Grey Bruce Health Services. Unfortunately the man could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Due to the unexpected death, the Criminal Investigation Branch attended the scene of the drowning to investigate. The deceased is a 76 year old resident of Owen Sound who had attended the residence with friends for a social gathering. Investigation indicates that the man, who was not a strong swimmer, had inadvertently waded into the deep end of the pool and slipped under unnoticed. There is no foul play suspected.
