If the cost of energy-saving upgrades is out of reach for you, Ontario has a new Affordability Fund for you.

Francesca Dobbyn, Executive Director of the United Way Bruce Grey says the program is targeted at those with high energy use, not just those with low incomes. The level you qualify for depends on a combination of your net income and your average energy bill.
You may qualify for  free upgrades, including: ENERGY STAR® certified LEDs, ENERGY STAR® certified appliances,

insulation and weatherstripping. Dobbyn is told they would consider funding things like changing from baseboard heaters to something else and other expenses, depending on the situation.
Whether you rent or own, live in a house or an apartment, you may qualify. This program is for everyone who has an electricity bill that is a burden. The levels of support provided through the Affordability Fund are relative to the household's electricity bill and net income; further evaluations may be required to access some supports.
For electrically heated homes only, you may receive an in-home visit from a professional Home Energy Advisor, a Home Energy Plan and upgrades that may include insulation and/or an ENERGY STAR® heat pump.

If the website is not clear, Dobbyn says it is better to just call with questions - 1-855-494-3863 - and explain what you'd like done..."tell them Francesca sent you".
