Jagmeet Singh- by Dave Carr

The New Democratic Party of Canada has today confirmed that federal leader jagmeet Singh will be a guest Wednesday morning on The Open Line on 560 CFOS radio in Owen Sound. Mr. Singh will answer your questions from 9:05 to 10:00 a.m.

I am pleased to have this opportunity to explore New Democracy with the federal leader, as well as exploring the many events surrounding him since becoming leader in October of last year....about 6 months ago. His leadership has not been without some controversy and we'll ask.

I might say one thing about having Mr. Singh on the line: I personally believe the questions about whether or not he supports Sikh terrorism have been asked and answered -- most pointedly and directly in a sit-down interview with CTV news in which he plainly and bluntly disavowed Sikh terrorism and those who foment it. Until that time, questions were growing more and more strident about his appearances on stage with various factions for whom Sikh independence is paramount, and for whom violence remains an option.

Tomorrow, I would like to move beyond that; I think what now becomes more important to voters in Canada is how this man will shape the NDP over the next year and a half; what he can possibly do to separate his party's policies from the Liberals and position the NDP to start reviving its fortunes, in decline since the death of former leader Jack Layton.

I'm having Jagmeet Singh on because I'm curious about the NDP. I hope you are, too.

The Open Line -- Wednesday, April 4th, 2018, 9:05-10;00 a.m. Live phone in.
Guest, Jagneet Singh, leader, federal NDP
