A popular year-end tradition helped to commence the final Regular Meeting of the Board for the 2018 – 2019 school year. Volunteers were joined by their families and other supporters on Tuesday, June 18 as Bluewater District School Board celebrated this year’s Awards of Excellence in honour of the many outstanding contributions made to our local education system.
Trustees took turns at the podium recognizing the recipients, who were each representative of a “family of schools”. Those in attendance had an opportunity to learn about the excellent work of these individuals to positively impact student achievement and well-being. Some of this year’s examples included contributions to breakfast programs, strengthening parent and community partnerships, helping students in the classroom, and supporting music and the arts, to name a few.
While it is impossible to honour all of those special people who contribute to the betterment of education in Bluewater District School Board, the Awards of Excellence program provides a snapshot of the amazing volunteer efforts in our local school communities. Individuals have been nominated by others within their family of schools, including teachers, administrators, parents/guardians, students, support staff, and/or community members. By virtue of the process, there is distinction in merely being nominated for this important award.
