The Board of Health for the Grey Bruce Health Unit is pleased to announce an agreement in the recent contract negotiations with the Ontario Public Service Employees Union Local 276. The union represents about 40 staff including Public Health Inspectors, Dental Hygienists, Registered Practical Nurses, Dietitians, Tobacco Enforcement and Education Officers, Health Promoters, Maintenance Custodians, Parent Support Workers and others.

The Board ratified the agreement at their meeting today. The union members voted in favour of the agreement at a meeting Wednesday, August 14.

The eighteen month contract, retroactive to January 1, 2019, provides for no salary increase, respecting the provincial public sector message of fiscal restraint and the reality of cost-saving in public health. The agreement provides a signing bonus and makes adjustments in contract language.
