schools outIn just a few days, students will be out on summer break and the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police, would like to see them enjoy the summer months safely. We can expect an increase in the amount of pedestrian traffic as scooters, rollerblades, skateboards and bicycles take to the streets and sidewalks.

The South Bruce OPP is offering the following tips for a safe and enjoyable summer:

Slow down and drive with care, especially near parks and recreation centres

Use crosswalks or intersections to cross streets safely. Never step out into traffic between parked cars

Bicycle helmets are required by law and reduce the risk of head injury by 85% when worn properly

Ensure that swimmers are always properly supervised
Never leave pets or children in a hot car

Follow your children online. If you're not connected with them - who is?

Parents and care givers are asked to review safety rules with their youth. Summer time may be a break from learning, but it can't be a break from safety.
