opp p0lice july fullAn impaired ATV driver was stopped at a local RIDE traffic stop.

On April 11, 2019, members of Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police were conducting R.I.D.E. spot check on Bruce Road 8 east of Sauble Beach in South Bruce Peninsula.

At approximately 9:58 p.m. an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) was stopped by police. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while impaired.

As a result of the investigation and breath tests conducted at the Bruce Peninsula OPP Detachment, 44-year old male, Jason Hawke of South Bruce Peninsula was charged with the following offences:

- Operation of motor vehicle while prohibited section 320.18 Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
- Operation of motor vehicle while impaired - alcohol and drugs section 320.14(1)(a) CC
- Operation of motor vehicle while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) section 320.14(1)(b) CC
- Fail to wear proper helmet section 19(1) Off Road Vehicle Act
- Fail to surrender insurance card section 3(1) Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on May 9, 2019.
