Ontario Provincial Police LogoPolice are investigating a break-in at a seasonal residence.

On May 5, 2019 the Grey-Bruce Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police received a report of a break-in to a seasonal residence in the Township of Chatsworth.

Sometime between December 16, 2018 and May 5, 2019, unknown person(s) forcibly entered a seasonal residence located on Concession 2 in the Township of Chatsworth. The residence was ransacked - a kayak and two canoes were stolen.

The OPP always encourage residents to report suspicious people or activity in their neighbourhood and offer the following crime prevention tips:

- Have a trusted neighbour or friend keep an eye on your property if you plan to be away for any length of time.

- Do not announce your absence over social media.

- Ensure outside lights work - consider motion sensor lighting.

- Lock all windows and doors, even if you're only away for a short period of time.

- Install quality locks and a deadbolts on each outside door.

- Keep garage doors and entry doors secured.

- Lock your vehicles at all times - remove or secure valuables out of sight - pocket the key.
