On May 6, 2019 at approximately 4:41 p.m., a member of the Grey-Bruce Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Purple Valley Road in the Municipality of South Bruce Peninsula. The vehicle was travelling at speeds in excess of 50 km/h over the posted speed limit.

Investigation revealed that the driver had been warned by police on a previous occasion with respect to excessive speed and aggressive driving after a traffic complaint was received from a concerned motorist.

21-year old Elwood Jones-Watkinson of Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation was issued a Part III Summons for the following offences under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA):

- Race a Motor Vehicle - Excessive Speed
- Driver Fail to Surrender Licence

He is scheduled to appear in court on June 10, 2019 in Owen Sound.
