Ontario Provincial Police LogoOn November 9, 2019 at 7:05 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the theft of fuel from a gas station at Highway 6&10, Georgian Bluffs. The suspect vehicle, a (gold) car pumped fuel and left without paying.

At 8:00 p.m. Grey Bruce OPP were called following a motor vehicle collision at Concession 4, near Side Road 6, Chatsworth. OPP officers attended and observed the driver of a (gold) car with signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to an OPP detachment. The driver provided breath tests more than twice the legal limit.

20 year old, Mitchel GORMAN of Southgate has been charged with the following:

 

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) of Criminal Code of Canada(CC)
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), section 320.14(1)(b) CC
  • Theft Under $5000, section 334(b) CC
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, section 2(1)(a) of Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
  • Drive motor vehicle, no plates, section 7(1)(b)(i) of Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
  • Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner, section 11(2) HTA

 

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear in Ontario Court of Justice, Owen Sound on December 5, 2019.
