handcuffsA man has been charged in an overnight break and enter.

During the early morning hours of January 30, 2020 a man broke into an Owen Sound condominium and stole thousands of dollars’ worth of power tools that belonged to contractors who were working at the site.

Patrol Officers of the Owen Sound Police Service successfully investigated the break-in and were able to identify, locate and arrest the accused by 2 p.m. that same day. At the time of his arrest, the man was found in possession of some of the power tools that he had stolen.

Members of the Criminal Investigations Branch later obtained a warrant to search the hotel room that the accused had been staying in. Inside of the hotel room, Investigators located all of the remaining power tools that had been stolen in addition to other stolen property.

Travis Rutledge, a 30 year- old man of no fixed address, has been charged with numerous criminal offences including Break, Enter and Theft as well as Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

The stolen items have been returned to their owners.
