gun drugsDuring Police Week we are celebrating the different departments here at OSPS and we are especially proud of the daily work of our Uniform Branch to keep the streets of Owen Sound safe. Last week police arrested a male and seized a conducted energy weapon and an imitation firearm.

On Sunday May 10th, 2020, uniform members investigated and arrested Jeffrey Parkes seizing an illegal obtained rifle, as well as another rifle with a sawed off barrel, drugs and thousands of
dollars in cash. Parkes was charged with a total of 12 Criminal Code offences and held in custody after appearing in court.

On Tuesday May 12th, 2020, more drugs and weapons were taken off the streets by officers after an arrest warrant was executed on a 30 year- old Owen Sound resident. Karlie Greatrex was gun drugs 2found in possession of 25 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 3 grams of potentially deadly purple fentanyl as well as cash proceeds of crime and a conducted energy weapon. The possession of conducted energy weapons is illegal in Canada as they are classified as prohibited weapons.

Greatrex was charged with numerous weapons and drug related offences including Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. The total street value of the seized drugs is in excess of $3,000.

These are just a few examples of the great work occurring daily by your Owen Sound Police Service to ensure we continue to live in a safe and healthy community. Thank you to all the officers and other essential service workers who continue to work on the front lines during our community’s efforts to work through the challenges of our pandemic response.
