race carThis past Saturday, May 28 Full Throttle was home to fast and fun racing once again. On the card for the evening was the "Matteo's Pizza" Fun Stocks, the "Twin City Auto Parts" Mini Stocks, Pure Trucks, Crazy Trains, Figure 8's, and a demolition derby.

The "Matteo's Pizza" Fun Stocks kicked off the night with the highest car count so far of the season with 18 cars taking the green flag. Phil Givens in the #0 jumped into the lead as soon as the green flag was thrown and led to lap 14 when a caution came out for the #73 of Sheri McIntyre getting spun on the front straightaway. When the field came back to the green Phil Givens would get back into the lead and never looked back as he would wheel his #0 machine into victory lane. Second would go to the #85 of Matt Clarke from Mount Forest. Third would be Ben Klages from Hanover in his #32 car. Fourth would be the #84 of Andrea Parsons from Teeswater. Rounding out the top five was #73 of Sheri McIntyre from Brucefield.

The "Twin City Auto Parts" Mini Stocks were the next group of cars to take to the speedway. Tom Houghton back-up driving for Tim Tolton would lead the field to the flag in the #35. On lap four Scott Mast from Cambridge in the #75 would find his way around the #35 and pulled away from the field. When the checkered flag flew Scott Mast was the winner. Second would go to the #86 of Nick Clarke from Teeswater. Third would go to Scott Schlueter from Stratford. Fourth would be Aaron McLean from Mount Forest who was back-up driving for Travis McLean. Fifth would be the #35 of Tom Houghton from Kitchener.

The Pure Trucks were next on the track for a ten lap exhibition race. Steve Schnurr from Owen Sound would lead the 34 of Tyler Arnold for all 10 laps and would win. Arnold would come in second.

The Outlaw Late Models would hit the track next for their first feature of 2016. In the beginning, 2015 points champion #11 Cole Weber from New Hamburg would lead the field to green and looked like the car to beat. However on lap 4 Justin McLellan from Mount Forest would take over the lead until a lap 13 caution. When the green flag flew Mark Dixon from Durham took the lead and bring his #40 car into victory lane for the first time in 2016. Second would be the #12 of McLellan. Third was the #34 of T.J. Edwards from Fergus. Cole Weber would bring the #11 in fourth. And Full Throttle's own Gord Bennett would bring his #5 over the line fifth.

The Crazy Trains would hit the track for their first 12 lap feature. John Bates would lead the Trains to green in his #13 "Rockford Rednecks" train. John jumped out to an early lead but was not uncontested as he would battle "The Angry Birds" #95 train of Johnathon Bates would battle for the lead. When the checkered flew it would be the #13 who would win. Second would go to the #95. Third was #87 "The Dragon Express"

of Jim McTavish. Fourth was the #34 train set of Tyler Arnold. And to round out the top five was the #7 "Shake Rattle Roll" of Brody Schiestel.

The "Matteo's Pizza" Fun Stocks was the first group of car to return to the race track after intermission, Andrea Parsons in the #84 would lead the field for 13 laps but would eventually be overtaken by the #85 of Matt Clarke. Matt would lead the race to a hectic finish. The ending was hectic due to the #84 of Andrea Parsons getting spun around in front of the field and being plowed into by a bunch of cars. In the end Andrea Parsons would be second even with a destroyed race car. Third belonged to the #14 of Luke Bos from Conn. Fourth would go to the #73 of Sheri McIntyre. And finishing in the fifth position was the #18 of Isaac Dippel from Drayton.

The "Twin City Auto Parts" Mini Stocks hit the track next for their second 20 lap feature. Out of the gates it would be the #6 of Aaron McLean would take to the lead. On lap nine Alex Hastie would take the lead but would quickly be passed by the #75 of Scott Mast. Scott then would be the first person in 2016 to win both 20 lap features. Nick Clarke would be credited to the #86 of Nick Clarke. Alex Hastie would bring his #34 over the line third. Aaron McLean would come fourth. And to round out the top five was the #24 of Cody Hayes from Tiverton.

The Outlaw Late Models hit the track next for their second feature. Starting off strong was the #34 of T.J. Edwards. T.J. would race hard with the #12 of Justin McAllen. On the last lap heading out of turn two T.J and Justin would come together and the #12 would spin. Because the white flag had flown the race was deemed official and once the cars were sorted out and involved cars moved back the #11 Cole Weber would claim the first position. Second would be the #40 of Mark Dixon. Third would be the #36 of Gary Elliott from Dundas. Fourth would go to the #34 of T.J. Edwards. And fifth would go to the #4 of Bruce Hutchison.

The Trains would be the next cars out of the pits for their second 12 lap feature of the night. The # 13 would jump out to an early lead up until a lap nine caution which saw Brody Scheistel's train almost rollover. When the green flew again the #13 would lead lap ten but "The Dragon Express" would take over the lead and win. Second was the #13 of John Bates. Third was the #34 of Tyler Arnold. And fourth was the #7 of Brody Scheistel.

Next Saturday will be a night to mark on your calendars. The Outlaw Late Models, Street Stocks, Georgian Bay Chemicals Jr. Late Models, Mini Trucks, The Pure Trucks, The Crazy Trains plus a 50 lap show from the Ontario Pro Challenge Series and a 25 lap feature for the Canadian Vintage Mods. Admission is $13 for people 11 and up and $2 for kids 10 and down.
